As environmental awareness continues to rise and sustainable development becomes a global consensus, the dynamics of the environmental protection industry have garnered significant attention. As Asia’s annual grand event in the environmental sector, the 26th China Environmental Expo was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from April 21 to 23, 2025. With a massive scale, the expo attracted 2,279 enterprises from 22 countries and regions, covering nearly 200,000 square meters of exhibition space. Dubbed the “Olympics” of the environmental protection industry, it drew over 100,000 professional visitors for exchanges, learning, and collaboration. Shanghai Aasf Technology Co., Ltd.(AASF) actively participated in the expo to learn about and share the latest trends in environmental protection.
Grand Scale: Bringing Together Global Environmental Forces
Stepping into the Shanghai New International Expo Center, the bustling atmosphere of the 26th China Environmental Expo was immediately palpable. Exhibitors from around the world gathered here to showcase their latest environmental technologies and solutions in unique ways. From global environmental giants to emerging eco-tech enterprises, from large equipment manufacturers to innovative companies specializing in niche fields, all competed to display their strengths on this stage.
According to the organizers, over 500 enterprises participated for the first time this year—a prominent figure in the expo’s history—with most new exhibitors being technology-driven small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This influx of new blood not only brought more innovative elements to the expo but also highlighted the vigorous development momentum of the environmental protection industry. Delegations from different countries and regions had distinct characteristics: the German delegation impressed with its sophisticated industrial technology and rigorous process design; the U.S. delegation introduced cutting-edge technological concepts and innovative environmental products; and delegations from other Asian countries and regions showcased environmental solutions tailored to their regional characteristics, demonstrating the expo’s strong international influence and broad industry coverage.
Cutting-Edge Technologies: Exploring New Paths for Environmental Protection
At the expo, tens of thousands of cutting-edge technologies stole the show, with industrial wastewater zero discharge, membrane separation technology, and resource recycling emerging as focal areas. In the industrial wastewater zero discharge zone, numerous enterprises displayed advanced wastewater treatment systems that use physical, chemical, and biological techniques to efficiently remove pollutants and recycle water resources. Some companies adopted new membrane technologies that achieve high-precision water separation at low energy consumption, significantly reducing industrial wastewater treatment costs and providing strong support for sustainable development in industries.

The membrane materials exhibition area was particularly crowded. Leading membrane technology enterprises such as DuPont Water Treatment and Times Water (Vontron) showcased a range of high-performance membrane products with advantages like strong anti-pollution capabilities, long service life, and high separation efficiency. These materials are widely used in seawater desalination, wastewater treatment, and pure water production. On-site staff explained that with continuous breakthroughs in membrane technology, its application scope in environmental protection is expanding, positioning it as a key solution to water scarcity and pollution.
Resource recycling was another highlight of the expo. Many enterprises demonstrated how to transform waste into reusable resources, achieving the “treasure from trash” concept. From recycling and refining scrap metal to regenerating plastic waste, from resource-based treatment of construction waste to biological conversion of organic waste, a series of innovative technologies and equipment opened visitors’ eyes. For example, some companies used advanced sorting technologies to accurately separate different components in mixed waste for targeted recycling, greatly improving the efficiency and quality of resource recovery.
Rise of Smart Environmental Protection: Opening a Green New Future
With the rapid development of cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and big data, environmental protection equipment is accelerating its transformation toward unmanned and intelligent operations—a notable trend at this expo.
Shanghai Aasf Technology Co., Ltd.(AASF) visited state-of-the-art intelligent equipment and deeply recognized that intelligence will be a new direction for environmental protection.

Diverse Concurrent Events: Discussing New Trends in Environmental Development
In addition to the exciting exhibitions, nearly 40 high-end forums and events were held during the expo, bringing together political, industrial, academic, and research forces to discuss the development trends and challenges of the environmental protection industry.
On April 20, a summit forum themed “Technology Leading Green and Low-Carbon Transformation and New Quality Productivity Development” opened first. Guests including Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment Yu Huiwen and Chinese Academy of Engineering members attended to explore technological breakthrough paths under the “dual-carbon” goals and released first-prize achievements of the Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award. These achievements represent the highest level of China’s environmental science and technology and provide important technical support for green and low-carbon development.

On April 21, the Expo’s Top 100 Enterprises Awards Ceremony and the “Environmental Innovation Show” were held consecutively. The Top 100 ceremony recognized outstanding enterprises in the environmental field over the past year, inspiring more companies to engage in environmental causes and drive industry development. The “Environmental Innovation Show” provided a platform for innovative enterprises, sparking widespread discussions on topics like resource recycling and carbon capture.
Additionally, eight sub-forums focused on water treatment, air governance, noise control, and other issues, with over 400 industry experts sharing the latest technological trends. In the solid waste forum, experts proposed that “intelligent sorting + recycling” would become the core model for waste resourceization; the monitoring forum called for accelerating digital and intelligent transformation to meet the deepening demand of environmental governance shifting from “hardware procurement” to “data value mining.” These forums and events provided in-depth communication and learning opportunities for industry professionals, promoting knowledge sharing and technological innovation.
The 26th China Environmental Expo is not only a grand event showcasing cutting-edge technologies but also a vane for the global environmental protection industry. It provides a platform for environmental enterprises to demonstrate their strengths and expand markets, offers professionals opportunities for exchange, cooperation, and learning, and serves as a window for the public to understand the industry’s development. Through this expo, we have witnessed the enormous potential and infinite possibilities of environmental technology and felt the efforts of global environmental advocates to achieve harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature. With joint efforts from all parties, the environmental protection industry is poised to embrace a more brilliant future and contribute more to the planet’s sustainable development.
